“Make diabetes a central part of your life because you feel better when you are in control”
Information
A study and treatment of diabetes mellitus. It is a metabolic disorder wherein the human body stops producing or fails to properly utilise insulin, a hormone that is required to convert sugar, starches, and other food into energy. Diabetes is a complex condition, and patients can require a very wide range of specialist, highly personalized care and treatment.Diabetes Mellitus is categorized as constant high levels of blood glucose (sugar). The effects include long-term damage, dysfunction and failure of various organs which can ultimately lead to serious complications and premature death, but with appropriate medical help and precaution taken in time, we can control the disease and lower the risk of complications. Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high. There are two main types of diabetes:
- type 1 diabetes - where the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin.
- type 2 diabetes – where the body doesn’t produce enough insulin, or the body’s cells don’t react to insulin.
